How weird dude! I am experiencing the same thing right now. I am having to use my "prime" setting on the petcock just to keep the bike idling. I need to know where the vacuum hose is so I can effect the same trick you did. Can you eleborate on this? Do I need to remove the little piece at the petcock? Help, the problem is getting worse. My bike is also a '97 and actually I've had this quirky problem since day 1. It used to be on cold cloudy days, now it's all the time. Other than that, no problems. Thanks
